A wildfire burning on the Crow Indian Reservation southwest of Crow Agency has consumed approximately 15,470 acres as of Tuesday afternoon. The Davis Coulee Fire was first reported Monday and remains at zero percent containment.

Firefighting Resources Deployed

Eighty-five personnel are currently engaged in suppression efforts. The incident command has assigned seven engines and two helicopters to the scene. Ground crews are accessing the fire perimeter on foot, a necessity driven by the steep and rugged terrain surrounding the blaze.

No structures have been threatened by the fire’s current path. Fire officials have not yet determined or released a cause for the ignition.

Local Disruptions

The fire has caused temporary power outages in several communities served by Big Horn Electric Co-op. Residents in Reno Creek south of Soap Creek, Lodge Grass, Wyola, and Wyoming experienced service interruptions on Monday.

Educational operations were also affected. Lodge Grass School delayed its start time on Tuesday due to the emergency. Additionally, the Benteen bus route was canceled for the day.

The fire continues to burn in the Yellowtail subdivision area. Monitoring resources from MT Fire Info indicate that conditions remain volatile given the lack of containment and difficult access roads.
