Montana Governor Greg Gianforte announced Thursday that Larry Flynn will take over as director of the Montana Department of Transportation. Flynn has served as deputy director since 2023 and replaces outgoing MDT Director Chris Dorrington.

“Larry Flynn is the right leader to continue the positive progress we’ve seen at MDT under Director Dorrington’s leadership,” Gov. Gianforte said.

International Mission

The governor also revealed plans to lead a delegation to India aimed at strengthening ties between the country and Montana. The trip includes a stop in Sri Lanka to support the Montana National Guard’s ongoing partnership focused on disaster response, military education, and maritime domain awareness.

The team traveling to India will represent several key sectors, including photonics, manufacturing, higher education, agriculture, bioscience, critical minerals, and quantum industries.
