Yellowstone National Park will begin winter operations Nov. 1, closing most roads and several entrances after Oct. 31.

Oct. 31 is the final day visitors can drive most roads inside the park and use the west, south and east entrances. The Gardiner-to-Cooke City route will remain open year-round, although weather conditions may force temporary closures.

The year-round route connects Gardiner, Yellowstone’s north entrance, Cooke City and the northeast entrance. It provides access to Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Junction and Lamar Valley.

Snowmobile and snow coach travel is scheduled to begin Dec. 15. Travelers are advised to check current road conditions before leaving and keep plans flexible as winter weather moves into the region.
