A 63-year-old Box Elder resident has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distributing fentanyl pills on the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation, according to NBC Montana. Leonard Allen Parisian pleaded guilty in May to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and will serve an additional five years of supervised release following his prison term.

Federal prosecutors and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Montana alleged that Parisian operated as part of a trafficking network between 2023 and 2025. An informant told investigators that Parisian regularly purchased between 3,000 and 6,000 fentanyl pills at a time and coordinated the distribution of an estimated 15,000 to 20,000 pills across Montana. According to court records, Parisian dispatched couriers out of state to retrieve additional supplies of the pills for local redistribution.

The FBI and the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation led the investigation into Parisian’s drug trafficking operation. The case reflects ongoing federal efforts to combat the fentanyl crisis on tribal lands, where overdose deaths have surged in recent years.
