Richard Randy Ricks was injured Thursday after an explosion in a shed led to a fire at his home on Ava Way in Three Forks, Montana.

Broadwater County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived shortly after 11 a.m. Neighbors helped Ricks, who suffered burns and a head injury. He was taken to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.

Flames were visible near the home’s back porch, and the Three Forks Fire Department extinguished the blaze. The house was declared a total loss, and at least one vehicle sustained heavy damage.

A propane-fueled space heater inside the shed may have contributed to the explosion and fire, but the official cause remains unknown. The state fire marshal’s office is involved in the ongoing investigation.
