Kaleb Anthony Hilliard, a 21-year-old Kalispell man, pleaded not guilty in Flathead County District Court to felony charges stemming from an Oct. 13 shooting at a Kalispell apartment complex that left one man dead and two others wounded.

Judge Heidi Ulbricht presided over the hearing, where Hilliard entered not-guilty pleas to one count of deliberate homicide, two counts of attempted deliberate homicide and one count of criminal endangerment. He remains held at the Flathead County Detention Center on $1 million bond.

Shooting allegations

Kalispell police responded at about 1:15 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire outside a party at the apartment complex. Officers found multiple people had been shot.

Anthony A. Williams, 19, died at the scene after sustaining an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. A second victim had apparent gunshot wounds to the abdomen and elbow, while a third victim suffered an apparent gunshot wound to her right shoulder.

Charging documents were filed Oct. 15. Witnesses identified Hilliard as the shooter, and he admitted to officers that he pointed and fired a weapon toward people near his vehicle’s window.

Hilliard told officers that “they were threatening him and he feared for his life.” His girlfriend also suffered road rash across her body and injuries to her head.

Trial date set

Hilliard’s trial is scheduled to begin Feb. 22, 2027. The deliberate homicide, attempted deliberate homicide and criminal endangerment counts are all felonies.
