Libby Police Chief Cody Ercanbrack faces two counts of official misconduct, along with charges of theft and obstructing a public servant.

Prosecutors allege that from October 2024 through February 2026, Ercanbrack deposited police-department funds into a bank account he controlled. The account was not overseen by the city, prosecutors allege, and the money was used for personal purchases at Amazon, grocery stores, restaurants and other businesses.

Prosecutors also allege Ercanbrack made untruthful statements during a June 10 interview with an investigator from the Montana Department of Justice.

Ercanbrack is currently on leave. His initial court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 4.
