President Donald Trump’s upcoming campaign rally in Kalispell will trigger significant road closures and air traffic adjustments across the Flathead Valley this Wednesday.
Traffic and Security Coordination
Flathead County Sheriff Brian Heino said security operations require extensive coordination among local, state, and federal agencies. The effort spans from Glacier Park International Airport to the Majestic Valley Arena venue and the connecting roadways.
Local law enforcement is managing the presidential motorcade and emergency response resources. Officials noted that unlike major events typically planned months in advance, this operation was organized on short notice.
“Majority of the times, we’re pre-planning our major events months in advance, this is days in advance,” Heino said.
Road Closures
U.S. Highway 93 will remain closed for the duration of the event, with access limited to emergency traffic and first responders. U.S. Highway 2 will also face temporary closures during the president’s arrival at the venue.
Authorities are urging residents to plan alternative routes and monitor official updates for real-time changes.
Airport Operations
Glacier Park International Airport expects to maintain mostly normal operations despite a temporary flight restriction published for pilots during the visit. No flight cancellations are anticipated.
However, travelers should prepare for potential delays. Airport officials warned that passengers and families picking up or dropping off travelers could face waits of up to an hour, particularly in the early evening.
“Passengers and families traveling, picking up or dropping off travelers should plan for delays of up to an hour,” said Ratkowski.
