Two Mexican citizens received jail sentences of just over two months after pleading guilty to illegally reentering the United States following deportation, according to the case facts.
Armando Moreno-Moya and Agustin Balderas-Jimenez, both 32, entered guilty pleas in September. They are expected to be deported after completing their sentences.
Traffic Stop Led to Cases
Montana Highway Patrol troopers stopped the men on Aug. 4, 2026, for an expired vehicle registration. Authorities then determined that both lacked proper documentation and had previously been deported.
Moreno-Moya had been deported in March 2020. Balderas-Jimenez had been deported in July 2022.
Kathleen S. Lane and Susan P. Watters presided over the sentencings. U.S. Customs and Border Protection investigated the cases, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office prosecuted them.
